I'm thinking of buying a 24' coachmen travel trailer to bring the kids camping and such. My Ford Escape has a max of 3500lb (1587 Kg)towing capacity. The owner doesn't know what the weight is as they tow with a truck and it's no problem for them. Any feedback would be great.How much does a 1981 Coachmen travel trailer weight?
Ask the owner to either look on the ownership or have a look at the vin plate on the tongue to see the weight of the trailer. Not completely sure but I think that trailer Depending on the model comes in around 3500-3900 lbs,base weight, Depending on the gear inside. and with water tanks full you could easily exceed6000 lbs. You really should find a scale and have it weighed. Many large truck stops have them. You really want to weigh it packed and ready for travel as that's the weight your car is going to be towing. Manufacturers listed towing weights aren't always accurate as they are "Dry weight" or the weight without water in the fresh water tank and no stowables.
