Most RV heaters require you open the propane valve and set the thermostat. These heaters are closed system and don't have a pilot light. It helps to purge the air from the propane lines by lighting your stove. First make sure the vent to the ouside is clear. This is usually located outside the wall where the furnace is. Make sure you have propane and the valve is open. There is often another on off valve in the line that goes to the furnace. In mine it was under the camper. Then I would remove the outer cover so you can see into the combustion chamber. Turn the thermostat to heat then adjust the temp so it kicks on. You should see the igniter spark. It may do this several times before lighting since there may be air in the line. If you smell propane turn it off and have it serviced.
