What is the best black water treatment for travel trailers, and can you operate on the 30 amp extension cord?

We have just bought our first one and will not have sewer access readily available.|||I have a 30 foot class c. Have for years. I always use the cheap stuff at walmart for the black water. Every season I get it power cleaned. I don't see any difference from the expensive stuff to the cheap stuff at walmart. 7 days is about as far as I would go without dumping the black.

30 amp extension? Not sure why you would need this if you were at a proper campsite. Bottom line is, if you hook up to an AC outlet that is 100 feet away with even a really heavy duty power cord, most likely your AC will not function. If you really plan on extending a 30 AMP cord, get the best $ can buy. Think of it this way, water through a hose, the larger the diameter of the hose the more water and pressure you can get through it. If you skimp and go to home depot on getting a small extension for weed wacker or christmas lights, they certainly will not work. The small gauge wires just wont allow the amps to come through.

Good luck, and enjoy your RV. Not sure if your unit is new, make certain the roof is sealed and all seams. Or you will hate owning an RV.

Edit to ADD: If you are talking in terms of the 25 foot electrical cord "already" connected to the motorhome (that is usually plugged into the generator via a port in the elec access point if not on shore power). Yes, you will be fine running everything with that. The diameter of the line should be around 1". It will easily carry all the power you need. Just worry if you try to lengthen it with a cheap extension.

Take care,|||Hi

Actually any of the water treatment brands sold at camper supply stores-and even WalMart work well. These come in small packets.

Just drop them into the bathroom toilet. Following the directions. Suggest using two each time you drain the black water holder.

As for as AC? If your referring to the cord that comes with your unit-it will certainly work fine. I would recommend taking along spare fuses though. Just look at what you have installed as a reference.

And spare ac/dc bulbs are also a good idea. And small pices of wood. Say 2x6鈥檚 and 1x6鈥檚 can come in real handy when you need to level your unit.

Have fun
